Israel Offer Hope for a cure for HIV

One of the researchers, Professor Abraham Loyter from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, said that HIV spreads through the human body when its DNA has been inserted into the stem cell gene. However, the virus that is inserted just enough for DNA to replicate, not enough to make stem cell gene is unstable, which will result in the death of infected cells in a process called apoptosis.

Loyter said, he and his team use of amino acids called peptides to enhance the integration of HIV DNA into human genes. This causes the infected cells into "panic mode" and self-destructive. For the record, the experiment did not have any effect on cells that are not infected.

The researchers warn that they are so far limited to "cure" HIV in the laboratory.

"Although this study are promising, a big warning to the study that this is the first step. So far, this experiment proved only 'cure' HIV in a small cup containing the cells in the laboratory, but the findings are interesting developments in the effort to eradicate this devastating global epidemic , "said Loyter.

"This process may eventually be developed into a new antiviral therapies and the general," he said.

The plan, these findings will be published in the journal AIDS Research and Therapy.
